Afternoon All,
Apologies if this has come up before - I've been catching up on some reading and just read an article in Todays Pilot from June. According to the article, the UK CAA has resrticted the operation of Jet Provost & Strikemaster aircraft to non-aerobatic status. Following the investigation into a recent accident whereby an aircraft suffered a wing structural failure, the CAA has determined that checks into the mainplane spar upper attachement lug cannot ensure that cracking before the lug could be spotted. So until the CAA can satisfy itself that alternative methods of crack detection have been developed - all aircraft have been placarded 'Aerobatics Prohibited'.
What a shame ! Let's hope the boffins can figure something out !
Cheers
Rich
