All these were taken (photographer unknown) at Tangmere 50 years ago (14 September 1957).

My scans don't really show the quality of the originals but they do, unfortunately, show the damage being caused to the emulsion by the ingress of moisture and the general ravages of time - they deserve better. However, I think they're still well worth viewing.

Thanks very much Pete

I was just three months old then

At least now they are getting scanned they can be preserved and even restored.

I love the used look on the Valiant.

Beautiful :)

Great shots Pete, they make me almost feel homesick! I love that Lincoln, what a shame we do not have a good one in MSFS!it is also odd to think that these shots (from the museum library?) were taken 9 months before my arrival in the world :worried:

Brilliant shots Peter, thanks for showing.

Nigel.

Me too. Anyone know what it was used for in that colour scheme and with faired-over gun turrets?

Thats not the Napier Lincoln is it?

BTW the Meatbox is a thing of beauty looks like they had a bunch of erks out polishing it :)

And I think the Dog is from Bentwaters - probably 81st FW

It does though if you read back the bottom and trace the links - that aircraft pictured was at the Air Warfare College at RAF Manby
