Hell No!! I'm gonna get it checked first ;-)

I can't recall us ever having 'Flag' markings on any of the helo flights embarked on smaller ships I've served on although if my memory hasn't gone down the pan, we may have had Capt F7 above HMS ANDROMEDA on the nose of our Lynx. That is only a mabe though :) Certainly, Blake never had it on any of the 4 Seakings when FOF2 was embarked and neither did our Wessex on Norfolk when we were COMSTANAVFORLANT. The FAA are a funny bunch though :gigle:

Thanks a lot for the info and access to the Warpaint details - a lot to digest here and try out regarding the right shade of dark blue. I will also await Dave's efforts to check the accuracy of the Warpaint info - I won't be touching any more repaints for a week or so, so no rush at all.

Cheers,

Steve

Rgr that Steve :) My source is away for the weekend but I should learn by Monday evening ;-)

The colour plate has a ref number for the COD blue but it means little to me I'm afraid :-( I'll have another look at the scan and try to bring it inline with the print (these were done some years ago for one of the 'aborted' Gannet projects) :worried:

Cheers for the cracking photos, Techy, will indeed add that one to the 'to do list'. Lt. Tetley will indeed live on!
While the jury is still out on the exact shade of blue, here is a COD bird from one of Dave's Warpaint series to gauge it off. I used a blue/grey as listed on Simmers Paintshop, which matches quite well with some reference shots I've seen on Airliners.net. See what you think. I also had a chance to the T.2 preserved at the M.A.M. (cheers for the reference photos, Malc.)

**Just seen Dave's latest update - what's wierd is the Warpaints swatches indicate it is Blue Grey, which appears much darker and more 'sharklike' on Simmers Paintshop, and in the photos I've seen. What's the consensus on why Warpaint shows it blue-er, or more navy blue with Dave's re-work, vs. something darker? I am happy to make adjustments.
