Cheers Glen and Garry, glad they have been well-received and that we all slept on the old posts!

Trev, take some pics of the colony once you get it up and running, nothing like a bunch of ugly birds milling around! I suspect a good few people will use them as AI, which is fine with me, it'll just be nice to see the old girl populating the skies again.

Now on the note of populating the skies with old birds, what interest would there be in some Shackleton repaints? Now I haven't done any research on this yet and have no idea what model is best, what repaints exist etc. I just mulled it over in my head the other day whilst thinking about my next project. I want to do something FAA or Coastal Command, I know that, and it should be early jets/post WW2 era. Any suggestions will be happily considered.

I wonder if some new life can be put into Ricks early models, the Varsity, Valetta and (I know you already have done some) the Meteor? Not really what you asked for but just a suggestion

:o :o :o

Dear me Trev. The Devil has you tonight!

I dunno if the Shack is a good enough example to go for for variations. Mk1's tended to be similar to the same.. Mk2's likewise as were Mk3's. That said, you've done a good turn for the Gannet so who know's ;-)

Hmm, definitely something to think about then.

Meanwhile, all repaints have been uploaded to the Pond, pending clearance, they'll be ready to d/l. Also, I tried out Kevin's modded FDEs and can happily report an improvement. WOrth it if you are going to actually fly this sucker!

You are right Dave Coastal only really had the shack (after some late Mk Lancs and Halibags) and Sunderlands. All these later shacks (we have no early models) look pretty much the same. Freeware models do exsist for Mk 2's but they had trouble flying correctly, I seem to remember.
FAA stuff in freeware is pretty thin on the ground, it maybe worth looking at the Alpha freeware dept (Buccaneer), but it will be very much of the Ito area of design. There was a Wyvern in development here sometime ago, perhaps the designers would like some repaints whilst they finish the internal side?

The freeware Shackletons were by Paul Foster, and the inimitable Mr Horsey released a fix for the problems. I believe they can all be found at Flightsim.
