DM BAC1-11 and Comet help

Post by forthbridge »

Hi All,

New to the forums, and hoping someone can help...!

I've recently re-installed FS2002 after a while sitting in-box as they say.

I've downlaoded all of David Maltby's excellent aircraft, which all work perfectly, except that while I am able to fly the BAC1-11 and Comet, the models themselves do not appear in the game or the selction screen. I can select liveries etc, and in-game the cockpit is there with all gauges, and the plane works (IE it is possible to fly around using the cockpit view) - but the plane is not visible from outside.)

Could anyone give me any pointers?

Thanks
Jim

Welcome to the forum....

What is FS2002 ????

On a more serious point, someone with the knowledge of that older version might be able to help you out.

Btw. I though that DM's aircraft was FS2004 only :dunno:

Unless of course you lifted them off some where else than at dmflightsim

HI Dan,

thanks. All downloaded from David's site, and installed as per his instructions for FS2002. (Most notably, the Gauges cabfiles go into Gauges folder in FS 2002). They are of course optimised for FS2004 but I find the VC10 and Trident fly perfectly well in FS 2002, and of course look superb.

Well DM has a reputation that he has a darker side which makes stealth versions of his aircraft.....

Or is it indeed the aviation version of "The Emperor's New Clothes ..." ??? :dunno:

LOL! Could be!

Seriously, I have rechecked evrything is where it should be (hoping I am not making a stupid mistake) - but everything seems fine.

The Trident has an autoinstaller, and this works fine. The VC 10 does not (IE manually put in to FS) - and it is OK - the Comet and BAC 1-11 are the same (EG one comes with auto install and one does not) - so I'm pretty cerain Ive a grasp of the installation procedure!

Let's hope someone can come up with some :brick: thing!!

:)

Ah yes, I'm afraid FS2002 is a no go for the Comet & the 1-11 these days because they are now both made with FSDS3.
Trident and VC10 are still FSDS2 models.

I'd suggest picking up a copy of FS2004 quick. Better than FS2002 & FSX, with enough quality addons to last a lifetime (or at least until FSXI :) ).

HI David

Many thanks for that - I am not going mad!! ;-)

I had been reluctant to go down the FS2004 road after hearing about framerate problems on release - but it's available now at 'bargain' price, so I think an upgrade is called for!

Once again, thanks for all replies - much appreciated!

:)

The FS2004 clouds can be a bit heavy on frame rate, as can the autogen, if your system isn't up to it.
But, if you turn the clouds to 'simple' (I think it is) & autogen off, you basically have an improved FS2002 with better performance.

If you get hold of a copy of FS2004 you should also download & install the 9.1 patch.
Anyway if you do get hold of it, come back here & I'm sure someone will help you out with it.
