New scheme for DC-6

Post by Tom Everitt AFG »

Hi everyone.

As you may have seen from other forums, our DC-6 G-APSA has been repainted into 1950's KLM colours. She will be staring in a Dutch film about the 1953 London-Christchurch air race, due to be shot at the end of September. Before then you can she her display at Portrush, Hamburg and Jersey airshows.

Very beautiful paint scheme. I do hope they'll cover the registration or digitally remove it during the filming. They didn't do it on our plane during "Walk The Line" and it looks odd to see a massive US "Stars and Bars" and "N582P" clear as day next to it. Nevermind that the "Stars and Bars" aren't correct for a USAF C-131H, but at least they did get a CV-580 which is more than most films do.

Tom, did you over to Holland with her? A whole lot of Dutch FSimmers from the SOH have posted shots of this wonderful new scheme at an airshow on Saturday. They were well impressed!

Hi Trev

Yes, we flew out Saturday morning to Amsterdam to pick her up, then the short hop over the Aviodrome in formation with the DC-2 and a DC-3!

If ever you are in Holland, make sure you visit the Aviodrome. Some of the most helpful and friendliest people I've ever met.

Tom.

Now there's a wonderful sight! A shame I didn't know about it as I would have gone to Lelystad to see her.
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.
