I saw this flying at Elvington some years ago and it really is very impressive. Bit of a memory lapse but I seem to remember the wingspan being either 3ft shorter than a Spit or 3ft wider (I think it was the former). That gives you some idea of just how big the darned thing is!!.

A half decent B-29 for FS9 would do me. :-(

Check out the SOH thread about 'piddling 14,000h.p.', you will find a much improved freeware B29 (including a genuine Washington) and B50 in the final stages of testing.A half decent B-29 for FS9 would do me

The old WoP B29 works a treat in FS9 and FSX(spit!) though of course, you have to pay for the privilege. I liked their old B17 very much.. an excellent MP platform for close formation flying and young Mr P tells me the latest version is better still. The old B29 flies very much the same.. slow and ponderous but you get the feeling invincibility! Wrong model but there IS a Washington paint out there for it too ;-)

Trev, any chance you could link me to that thread at SOH ? I can't seem to find it anywhere. EDIT: Its ok Trev, I found it, thanks.calypsos wrote:Check out the SOH thread about 'piddling 14,000h.p.', you will find a much improved freeware B29 (including a genuine Washington) and B50 in the final stages of testing.A half decent B-29 for FS9 would do me
Dave, I've looked at the WOP B-29, and there are things not quite right with it, notably round the cockpit area. Because of the family connection, its an aircraft whose shape I've been familiar with since childhood and so any error, no matter how small, immediately jumps out at me. There's also a freeware B-29B out there but, in my opinion, its very badly flawed.
Ah well, I live in hope. ;-)

Re: Anyone for a RC B-29??
HI Paul
Okey doh mate. I profess little knowledge of the real thing and certainly not enough to pick holes in it. It looks like a B29 to me (like, being the operative word) but the next time I fly it.. I'll have in the back of my head that there are certain bits not quite right. As long as I don't know what they are.. they shouldn't hurt me!
Let us know when you find one that is right ;-)

Will do, mate. In fact, when I find a really good one, it'll be difficult to shut me up about it !DaveB wrote: Let us know when you find one that is right ;-)

Back to the RC one. Very impressive.
Out of interest, are there any restrictions on who, where or when you can fly something that big?
