Don't believe everything you read Garry, I've worked with some children who have a much better grasp of the concept, through their own experiences. OFFTOPIC

Well out of all the ten to fifteen year olds I know and I mean all of them.....not having a mobile is exactly how they percieve being poor.

Most of them feel hard done by if it is not the latest model

I don't believe all I read but in this case it was already known to me by as I say the members of that age group I know.

They constantly moan about how hard up they are brcause they have not got the latest gadgets.

I posted this because ATM I'm training the new intake at work.

I've been a vocational trainer for the past 15 years, qualified and experienced..I spent 3 years in Central America with young offenders, sharing life and craft skills.....any assumptions you have about prisons in Central America will be right......

This week and for the next few weeks I'll be trying to motivate overweight (seriously overweight)teenage girls and lads who just want to sit in the park at 3am and smoke weed..

..Meanwhile I'm still trying to find an answer to a question a young Polish lad asked me: 'Why are the British so fat and lazy...'

I'm a nice, laid back bloke, I really am.....but bring back National Service...

Personal opinion, 'nuff said

The girl across the road kept losing jobs

She would go for a couple of days then I'd see he and ask why she was home

Answer was almost always the same...."I phoned in sick because I'm too busy my mates commin' round"

:dunno:

Next this she was moaning as she had no spending money/

They really don't know how well off there are.......even without money they have a far superior lifestyle to anything some kids could dream about.

Anyway :-#

Been 'guesting' for ages but signed up to share this....

Makes me tear up every time I see it.

Now I have joined I guess I'll have to find the pictures of the 707 at Teesside Airport (as it was) sometime in the 70s to go in the Scarebus thread and illustrate that like ungrateful teenagers, there's nothing really new in the world!

Thanks for that paulsl..and welcome ;-)

That video just about sums it all up....my original post now seems like a sweeping generalisation but that's not the message I meant to put across.

The majority of folks that I'm working with are happy to get on with the job and do their best....it's just that the 'poor me...I can't do this..' attitude of some spoil it for everyone else. If that's the case, why apply for the job in the first place.

Sometimes the caring supportive bit wears a bit thin after a few days with someone who thinks the world owes them a big favour...especially when they've been nowhere and done nothing.

ATB,

Derek ;-)
