HI guys 'n' gals.

i have an FS propblem, I wonder if you can help.

I had to re-intall my 'Just Flight RAF Vulcan' CD, and now everytime I run FS9, a message comes up that says:

"The version of FS2004 detected is not compatible with this version of FSUIPC! It is build 9.01.40901... you need the correct version of FS2004. The build should be 9.00.30612."

What the hell is FSUIPC? I un-installed the Vulcan CD, but no luck there, then I un-installed and re-installed FS9 but still no bloody luck! :dunno: Please can anyone help?

FSUIPC is a program that interfaces some gauges and other add-ons to FS9. You can usually find an updated copy on the web somewhere, wiser minds will hopefully come up with the fix probably as I type.

As I picked up that CD in the RAF Museum last week, I will hold off installing until someone comes up with the fix. If an add-on crashed FS9 SWMBO would be delighted. Only time I've been unperturbed at paying full price! Interestingly, in view of Cosford stringing aircraft from the ceiling, one of the staff told me that the hanging exhibits are a pain for trying to keep clean. Maybe one of Mr Bond's jetpacks could be the answer - with a flame proof duster.

Hi Chris :)

Dunno if this will work but here goes anyway

It seems that the old JF Vulcan has loaded FSUIPC.. the version that came with it and as the model is intrinsically an FS2002 version.. this will have adverse effects on FS9. Go into your modules folder and look for a file fsuipc.dll and probably another called fsuipc.ini. Remove both of these and try starting FS9 again. It should start ok :)

Allan is correct in that FSUIPC is a 3rd party interface that lets addon progs communicate directly with the sim. The latest version for FS9 is 3.75 and it's available free from Allnodes (just do a search and type in FSUIPC then look for ver 3.75. Don't choose the later one as this is for FSX) :) It may be that you don't need it but if you do.. that's where to go for it ;-)

Oh.. and when you install the Vulcan again.. before you try and start the sim, go into the Modules folder and bin the old ver it's just put in there.

Hope this works!

Thanks Allan. Dave, you are a diamond geezer!

Yes, deleting that from modules worked. Just one other niggle though. I haven't got that famous Vulcan 'howl' at full throttle like I used to. Maybe this doesn't happen in FS2004 with the version of 'RAF Vulcan' I'm using and I'm remembering it from FS2002, but it definately was there somewhere...any ideas? I have adjusted the sound settings in the sim to high quality, but alas, no change... :dunno:

Hi Ben,

Yes everything else sounds cool, and she certainly roars and crackles at full power. (The only other thing missing is that you can't actually FEEL the roar!)

Hi Chris,

TBH mate.. I didn't think the 'howl' was as pronounced in 2004 as it was in 2002 but couldn't be sure if that was a consequence of my hearing degrading (true) :dunno: For sure.. it didn't/doesn't sound as I'd remembered it  What you could try is downloading that new FSUIPC file off Allnodes and dropping it into your modules folder. Don't worry about 99% of the cr@p that comes in the zip.. just drop the fsuipc.dll file in there and it should build it's own .ini file. I can't be sure this will improve what you're hearing and if it doesn't, there's nothing lost. You can leave that file in-situ with impunity or.. remove it as you did with the old version ;-)

Chris,

Try looking at the Justflight website, they mention this in their Support section.

Dave, my man!!!

Once again I have taken your good advice, and once again it's paid off! - I've got my 'howl' back! :welldone:

As you can guess, I know little about these particular complex files, but even I was pessimistic about that file affecting the sound... but, no...that magical sound (I'm not sure if howl is the right expression but i can't think how else to describe it) that is unique to the Vulci-bird, is back, in full song, no doubt about it! It just goes to show what a little tweaking and knowledge can do!

Do you think it was actually recorded from real?

Now I just can't wait to hear it again for real!! - It may be next year now, but in the mean time, I've got second-best.

Thanks again Dave ;-)

Excellent Chris

I tried years ago to get this lovely howl (that's what I call it too as do most folk I think) onto another aircraft and simply changing the soundfiles didn't work so I looked a bit harder and found the sound was 'gauge' controlled and it made sense that as FSUIPC was automatically loaded that the aircraft needed it :) Funny the things you remember :cpu:

It does sound very much like it's taken from archive film so my guess is yes.. the sounds are authentic ;-) Glad you're sorted
