12 A380s and 24 787s. Be nice to see the A380 in BA livery at last for real

Shock!!...I'll believe the A380 "White Elephant" when it actually arrives...B787 Dreamliner...Great! I hope I get a chance to fly in it :)

No great shock at all really. They've got the best mix of planes for their fleet at (presumably) an exceedingly good price. Airbus must be relieved with this order, I guess Boeing will have to look again at the 747-8 to see if it really is viable.

I understand your comments Peter but, if I can paraphrase you, I'll believe in the Dreamliner when it actually flies!!

I have to agree with Peter, I think the A380 is as much of a white elephant as Concorde, and I certainly know which one I'd rather see in the skies. If Airbus had actually focused on the A350, they'd have had a viable answer to the Dreamliner.

Since the Dreamliner is turning into an even bigger nightmare for Boeing than the A 380 was for Airbus ( same CAD software used for the electrical design as I understand it) and it hasn't been rolled out , I think BA have been rather sensible. In any event, I do not think that Concorde was quite the white elephant in real terms that Peter considers it to have been. It would have cost far more to buy the publicity that Concorde produced, than the excess costs of running it - why else do you think that BA took active steps to prevent anyone else flying it after they decided they would not continue with it?
