RAF akrotiri

Post by TSR2 »

At last Google seem to have updated their images so you now get pretty decent shots of the base!

Are my eyes decieving me or is that an F4 of some sort at the eastern end of the base, just south of the runway threshold, beside some buildings?

Hi Ben

Yes looks like a Phantom to me too.

I can see a Tristar on the ramp & a VC-10 up on the western end ramp along with a load of wokka's

Regards
Rick

Certainly looks like an F-4, I can't really tell but the colour scheme.... Luftwaffe I think? I see a VC-10 parked on the West side south of the threshold, along with lots of Chinooks, a pair of C-130's and some other rotaries that I'm not sure about. They look CH-53-ish perhaps?

Hi chaps,

Yep, spotted the other AC too. The F4 looked to be stuck where it is as I can see how it would get to a taxiway.... I was wondering if it may have been an old gate guard or something?
