That's what I thought Dave (did you throw a sickie yesterday btw??) Truth is though.. the Vulcan really was overpowered when not in 'tooled up' mode and it shows very well in that film

Yes it was a bit STOL...or STO anyway. I wonder if they need to tweak the flight model.

well its lighter than it normally was with all the gear stripped out such as the radar, wiring, central tank etc... they have a slab of metal in the nose to bring the cg forward too

Basicly yes, but without the reheat. 558 uses 201 series which is slightly less rated that the 301 engined vulcans than flew Black Buck.
Hmmm James your question was already answered earlier in this thread...... :doho: LOL
Tony
Bugger Sorry I missed the other two post STUPID Thanks for information Chris,Ben Tony and Garry
A bit like the Hawker Siddeley Harrier and now its the BAe Harrier GR9 some help I think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Olympus .Thats a fantastic Video there paul thanks for finding it and the sound just fantastic think we found the X factor :tab: :o :yipeee:I suppose it's the same with aircraft, for example I'd assume BAe Hawk is correct rather than Hawker Siddeley Hawk since it's still in production?

To echo what Graham (Filonian) said,There is nothing but nothing to match the awesome sight and ear-shattering sound of the mass scramble of Vulcans.I had the privelege of seeing this spectacle at Finningley a few times.Unforgettable.Well done to all concerned, what an achievement.Best Wishes EricT
Now at the age where I know I like girls but can't remember why!

Also some footage from primetime video, which I guess, will form part of the third volume of their XH558 restoration DVD:
