That looks like perhaps it's the inaugral or something similar
BOAC aircraft were usually clean at least from normal viewing distance

Cheers Dave
Just the way it's all posed up with set planned camera positions..just had to be something special especially given the bulkiness of equipement in those days.

Both absolutely brilliant
The sound of the second one brings back Leuchars '00 or '01 (I think) when at the start of the airshow, After the Tornados were up, a '10 under the callsign 'Texaco 01' 'scrambled'. As the ground and my eardrums shook and the smoke appeared, it appeared and was airborne like it had chilli paste up it's jetpipes, and WAY up in about 50% on the runway length, I could not believe it :o - in fact it was off the deck quicker than the Tornados

!!
A sound that can't be beaten

and of course they all look superb!
Cheers for those links

It's difficult now a days with smoke free jets that sound like a stuck organ to appreciate the power of the engines.
Lot's of noise with added supersonic cackle and a smoke trail now that's a proper engine

who cares the power numbers are less
