I was taking some photos of the moon the other night and was surprised at one of them:

On zooming in to full size:

And in another photo about 6 minutes earlier, there was another lunar explorer (too blurred to show here). I didn't realise that the airway that goes across East Anglia (TRENT to CLACTON?) was so busy.

Ian, what a fantastic shot !! Have you thought about selling it to a photo agency ? They are always on the lookout for things like that. :)

In this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards, the winner of the 'One Earth' section award was an almost identical photo to yours, Ian. It was entered by a Hungarian photographer who had been trying out his new 500mm lens and didn't realise he'd caught that shot until he uploaded the images on to his PC.

Here's a small version of it along with some of the other fantastic entries, but if you are out shopping in the sales, slip into a bookshop and see the full size version in the WPOTY portfolio 17. I get it every year as my christmas present so it's spooky that your photo should pop up at the same time!
Ian :)

Hi Tony

Yes and if you peel the paper back you can see amazing surface detail with smooth plains and low rising sweeping hills.
