Classic British Flight Sim

Hi all, hope you all had a great Christmas and that the New Year will be kind to you! xsmile

Some of you may remember my dad, more commonly known as 'panshanger', he was a member here for a while before we lost him. Dad had some good times on here and the old forum and so we just wanted to let you know that mum (speedbird001) and me still think of you even though we don't post here that often, well, hardly ever in fact!

Anyway, just a little update for those that know us. We're now back in the UK after a spell living over in Ibiza. Mum is still working in cabin crew for EJ and a year or so back married (secretly!) another member here called fournier (woo-hoo CBFS the matchmakers!) who I'm sure a lot of you will know! I'm now at College studying forensic science and hope to be joining the Police in a couple of years if all goes well!

Before I go, can I just say a special hello to Dave B and Henk Hugo, though not sure if Henk still posts here but I still owe him a great big thanks after all the support he gave me during some very difficult times. :kissu:

I never knew your Dad..........this was before my time here but I did read a lot about him and I regret that I had not gotten to know him.

Well who would have thought that CBFS as a dating agency too!!! With the present company I cannot see that happening again too soon ;-)
Give my regards to your mum and her new husband (not suprised he does not have the time post much here now ), your dad was one of the real 'stars' of the old forum, and is still sadly missed by us 'old timers'. Spain is still warmer (and sunnier) at this time of year, but that college course sounds brilliant, best of luck in the future!

Hi Ben, Like Garry, (and he's been around here a lot longer than me and come to that may be a lot older than me as well) I was not a member then and had not heard of of your father but know Fournier although only through his postings.

It now appears that CBFS is not just about anything to do with Classic Aviation then!!

Thanks for your post.
I was lucky enough to have known your Dad via this forums predecessor.
We didn't get off to the best of starts, owing to a heated discussion over Windows XP / Me (started by me :-( ). However, this was soon forgotten, and I developed the greatest respect for your father.
He had suggested meeting up (Mosquito Museum, Brooklands and Duxford were all mentioned), but unfortunately events precluded this.
Great to hear that your family has now found happiness.
From a fellow scientist (Medicinal Chemist), good luck with your Forensic Science studies.

Thanks everyone, it's been good to catch up with you all. Mum still looks in but leaves the posting to the 'better half'! It is great to see how the forum has developed from what it was, it really has come a long way and you should all be proud of the great community you've got here. Dad would be very happy with it I'm sure.

Mum is only doing internal flights at this time, I think she goes 'European' again in the Spring. I know she has also been talking about applying to BA as she has friends who work in cabin crew there so maybe she will be lucky enough to be taken on. She certainly has the experience to pull it off. She's also been doing her PPL for a few months now so if you are in the Elstree or Denham areas, stay clear when she's around!

Well I'm off now, I'm flying to Edinburgh first thing in the morning for the new year celebrations with a few mates. CHEERS
