AutoTrap...

I just succeeded in a "hands off" trap on the Ark Royal yesterday after a couple of days fitting and adjusting an ILS Glide Slope.

Here are a few shots from the Recorder Module of my first AutoTrap in the Sea Vixen:-

Image
Here I'm on the establishing turn with 3 Wire reporting the status.

Image
Pulse rate is a little high here as we seem to have dropped a little low on the slope. Note the Angle of attack at 4 degrees and remember that to show this angle of attack the speed would really be at 128 knots.

Image
Here is the airspeed being wrenched back by the arrester wire and passing rapidly through 70 knots.

...This one is on the Bridge...I see it is the QM2 in the anchorage today.

Thank you for looking at this first hands off "AutoTrap" with the Sea Vixen...I'm certain that it has never been done in real life and I may be the first to ever do it here in Flight Simulator.

Thanks for looking :flying:

Now that's impressive Peter, I've never managed to do that.

Thanks Seaking...I'll carry on playing with it to see if I can gaurantee a certain procedure. I've definitely established that a touchdown a little too fast but in the perfect place will result in a low skipping bounce for a bolter. I know that there is a variable within the contact points that can control "Bounce" and I'm wondering if a small adjustment there may minimise bounce and avoid this cause of a bolter :flying:

Peter,

On a separate issue, how did you move the Ark to McLeland Field? It's just I notice your landing sight lights are in the wrong position, I may be able to help sort that out once I get back to my main computer (and fix it, don't ask), at the least I can post the spreadsheet that automatically generates the co-ordinates for all the lights.

That would be very kind Skippy...I have already noticed that the green centreline lights are out of position. I'm not really surprised as I merely altered the degrees of Lat and Long and their first two decimal places, leaving the remaining five decimal places as per the Channel version. I am able to correct them all manually but as you know this is a very longwinded and tiresome business so your spreadsheet would be most welcome :dancer:

True...If you get a bit close to him he gets a bit ragged with holes :worried:

Got up to 8 AutoTraps in a row now after changing the hook length in the Aircraft.cfg :flying:
