I have one cd on the 1950 show but it's different footage.

Seems like the second half was the out takes ready for commentary. As though they only bothered to record sound for the flying shots.

Very interesting clip. So much for "Britain leading the world" - dropped the ball somewhere.

Living in Aldershot for 10 years until 1965, Farnborough was a pilgrimage for us and thousands of families, taking the special buses from town (courtesy of Aldershot & District) to the show, picnic in hand.

I can clearly remember the Beverley transport, and numerous Hawker Hunters. My Mum & Dad were there in 1952 (before I was born) and can remember everything that happened that day. I also recall the Red Pelicans display team (JP's) doing their thing together with the Bristol Belvedere and many more.

What went wrong with UK aviation?
