Having completed my fifth seaplane base for the Round The World on Floats project, I am test flying the amphibious DC3 from number four in Newfoundland to number five in Flores in the Azores.
The full sequence can be seen here:-

Hi Peter
I could have done with somewhere to land when I did a RTW in the Shack MkIII.. unfortunately, I didn't need the fuel as those things have a habit of going forever!
Nice set of shots as per ;-)

Hi Peter!
Nice project of yours!
It is great to see a seaplane base where none exists!
In reality there was a seaplane base for the B314 Clipper at Horta, Faial and a Navy base at Ponta Delgada shared between the Portuguese and British Navy.
Soft landings!

Hi Ricardo,
Yes indeed...My wife and I sailed my first boat to Faial and remember well some nice mosaic pavement with a fine picture of the B314...I did consider that location for my base but the extra mileage was a bit risky so I settled for Flores. As it turned out Faial would have been more sensible as the sea around Flores is not exactly famous for its calms
We sailed that boat back from Faial direct to the Helford River in 14 days and my next leg in this project is from Flores to Mylor Creek (just a few miles from Helford River). The leg will be about 7 hours instead of 14 days

Thanks Ravilamir...Yes it was a great cruise but fairly arduous with just the two of us

Mylor Creek Seaplane Base is now built here is how it looks.
There are a few more shots of the flight to here from Flores, added at the end of my original post here:-
