Classic British Flight Sim

Hi

Please excuse me if this one has been discussed before. I have gone through many posts here but could not find anything.
Dave's VC10 at level flight flies at a 0 degree pitch which I believe is correct. On descent, the pitch is very negative.
My questions are:
1. With what pitch (degrees) do these birds descend?
2. What descent in feet/minute should it have?

In otherwords - is Dave's FDE correct?

It always seems to me to be nose up in the cruise and more so on approah :think:

We have a resident VC 10 pilot who might be arround sometime

The 10 never really had a significant nose down attitued on approach, and I've just done a quick circuit at Aldergrove to confirm. Is it possible you have an old (FS2002) model? The current VC10's are all on DM's site, http://www.dmflightsim.co.uk

There's also an excellent tutorial on flying the VC10 on David's website ;-) The FD was reworked as a consequence of DM and I being fortunate enough to fly in the real thing as well as fly the sim at BZN some years back. It was certainly very close to the real thing in much of the flight envelope so.. in answer to your question is the FD correct (not FDE which was the engine used in Fsim some years ago to rework FD's).. no, it's not. This is a forty quid sim when all is said and done ;-) However.. if the question were 'Is the FD a pretty accurate representation of the real thing?'.. then the answer would be yes

Are you then saying that when you fly DM's VC10, the pitch attitude is zero degrees in level flight and on descent the pitch becomes negative 2 to 3 degrees?

I AM using the latest FD and model from DM's site

I'm sure Tonks will correct me if I'm wrong, but 2-4 degrees nose down sounds about right, and for a standard decent at idle power, no spoilers and 290kts somewhere around 2000 to 2500fpm would seem normal.

I 'lived' in the model (in Fsim that is) many moons ago but am only an infrequent user on our VA these days so do not want to give you any bum steers ;-) Tonks and HC live in the 'real' one on a daily basis so I'd take their comments as defacto There are a number of our VA simmers who fly little else (one that flies NOTHING else!) and these guys will be the one's with their fingers on the pulse with regard to what you can expect to see in the sim these days. I'm hoping one of them will read this and get you sorted ;-)

Your assistance is appreciated. I take it that TONKS is a current VC/KC10 driver. Lucky guy - IMHO the vc10 was the best jetliner in the sky in the 60's and early 70's.
