I found this on a rather odd website while trawling for something with Garry
No titles no names - Its NOT the Northrup Ascender - Garry and I agree its has a Russian look about it
my feeling this might even be a mockup or Model
Any ideas???
Leif

I don't have a clue either, but I'll ask the WIX brain trust and get back to you.

Certainly an odd one you found there Leif. The landing gear (nose and main) doesn't look real for a 'proper' aircraft does it.. either temporary or otherwise. While I wouldn't say it was a toy.. it does look more model than fullsize. No idea of it's heritage mind you

Well, here's the answer.
1) It's not a
Curtis Ascender (I was corrected by 4 people on that)
2) It's not Russian.
Here it is -
...[It's] an Italian bird. The Ambrosini SS.4 which was built in 1938..tested and
crashed in 1941 due to engine failure. The 960hp Isotta-Fraschini Asso XI R.C.40 engine gave it a top
speed of 355mph. Armament was one 30mm and two 20mm cannon mounted in the nose.
I like Ambrosini's pocket fighters, trainers, and postwar GA birds. Sleek Italian birds generaly similar
to some of the French Caudrons. The pic posted is one of the 3 examples provided in
Jonathan Thompsons, "Italian Civil and Military Aircraft, 1930-1945".

Chris
Thank you for that - Northrup, Curtis - all I could remember was the smart pun in Ascender

.
Dave
your right - I thought it had a toy like quality about it the main gear that is visible looks like it came from a Tesco Trolley and the Canopy is
very odd for a 30-40 design - it appears to be a single blown piece sort of F16ish......finally the exhuast stubs (which Garry and I had surmised
the engine have a Daimler Benz look about it) seem far to short ....anyway there it is - if you could get an answer on any other forum this quick
I would be surprised.
Chris - as an aside (which is why I was looking at obscure websites) know anyone who would fancy doing a Mod to any available FS9 Gulfstream 111
model - to include GV winglets, GV nose and windshield, Stage 3 Speys AND a 109inch cargo door in the Right side????????? (the beast exsists)

Leif, I don't unfortunately. The guys I know kinda do "what I feel like" instead of by request.
