New DX9c out and WOW what a difference!

Re: New DX9c out and WOW what a difference!
Downloaded it today then tried FS9 with unlimited frame-rates. Now it may just be my imagination but it appeared to give better frame-rates although not by a huge amount. Certainly at places such as Heathrow it appeared to only slightly improve yet at East Midlands where scenery is not a big issue I got in the region of 35 - 40 frames.

Hi Folks
They do.
Revisions are by internal build number. (904's been out since Aug 2004, latest D3D build is 9.12.0589)
Versions are by suffixed letter. (see Release history)
i.e.
DX9l == Longhorn == DX9 for Vista
Seeing no improvement at my end on 904's latest build.

Hmmm! ...I'm pretty certain that my frame rates reduced with this update...I even tried re-installing it but no difference. I do have the latest Nvidia drivers

Re: New DX9c out and WOW what a difference!
I just checked my version of DX9C on this laptop which has not been intentionally updated by me... I see the identical version number as per previous screenshots???? I installed the new version in the main PC but noticed no difference at all. Odd on both accounts....

Hi Folks
Tony -
904's been out since Aug 2004.
You need to run DXDiag
click the DirectX files tab
then look at the component build numbers.
Unfortunately the date column is when it was written to disk,
and not the version creation date.
Alternatively -
In filemanager/explorer,
look in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32
and sort by date.

This is what I'm afraid of Peter. I've never been a big fan of updating just for the sake of it and although I downloaded the redistributable version.. I don't think I'll be installing it. As the old saying goes.. if it aint broke, don't fix it ;-)I'm pretty certain that my frame rates reduced with this update...

well the updates make it better but . is it really fixed?
I wish for once they would fix it , then for once I would be able to truely break it....

Hmm, this latest update did very little for me either. As people have said, I would only bother if you have not updated your DX9 for some considerable time.
