Comet 4 course setting problem

Hi everyone,

Couple days ago i've started flying with David Maltby's Comet 4. It is a magnificent plane but when i try to set course ,i can only set 10,20,30,....,240,250. Only numbers which are multiplied by 10. I hope you understand what i mean, my english is not good.

I gues this not the only comet's problem. I experienced that with a falcon 2000 two years ago.
Please help, that little but frustrating problem ruins my flights.

I can assure you (from my own personal experience) there's nothing at all wrong with either the COMET panel or its gauges.

What you're experiencing there is a quite a common occurrence in FS .... on some PC's and with some panels .... but .... by no means all of them.

In fact I've even experienced this myself.

HEADING and VOR bugs becomming stuck at 10 degree increments can result from depressing your mouse curser for too longer period over these selector/hot points. Sometimes the operation of these bugs will automatically return to 1 degree increments of selection after a few minutes. Other times they can remain stuck .... and also cause these same selectors in other panels to stick when another aircraft is selected within the same FS flying session too. Remember .... FS will always remember a previous aircraft/flight condition and apply it to the next aircraft/flight condition if aircraft changes are made within the same flying session. When selecting these bugs it's always best to use a multitude of mouse clicks rather than constantly depresssing your mouse curser over hot point in order to rotate these bugs.

On some panels (I don't know if this applies to the COMET though) there are intentionally 2 hot points associated with each selector bug .... both are generally/silently side-by-side .... 1 to rotate these selector bugs per increments of 10 degrees, and the other to rotate them per increments of 1 degree. You need to check whether or not this applies to the COMET .... just feel around with you mouse !

The only permanant resolution to this problem I'm aware of is per the installation of FSUIPC .... but .... in this case you'll require a fully licensed version in order to access its sub menu pages. The FSUIPC fix for this particular problem used to be available on the "TECHNICAL PAGE" of its options menu. It used to be named "FIX CONTROL ACCELERATION" .... I wouldn't have a clue what it's called now though or if its even been renamed within subsequent FSUIPC versions.

Another thing you can try is loading the default CESSNA, first and foremost, at the start of any FS flying session, or, temporarily loading it between aircraft changes within the same flying session. In doing so, check that the HEADING and VOR selectors on this default aircraft panel aren't stuck .... then select your COMET. 9 times out of 10 this action resolves the problem completly (according to my experience). FS flying sessions should always really be started with a default MSFS aircraft .... before selecting your aircraft of choice or other issues can result. So long as you aren't then too heavy-handed when selecting HEADING and VOR selector bugs then everything should operate normally.

shc_04..
Starting any or all flights with a default Cessna does sound incredibly boring mate but it's sound advice. Even if you change your default flights airport or time of day, still use the Cessna as the first aircraft to load and you'll find most problems of this sort will completely go away ;-)

YEP .... THAT'S RIGHT ! :)

"DAVEB's" on to it ! ;-)

The main thing he (and anyone else encountering this problem) needs to remember though is just "AVOID/DO NOT" constantly depress the mouse cursor over the selector tab/hot point for prolonged periods in order to set a HDG or VOR course .... which is essentially what causes these selector bugs to become stuck to 10 degree incremments in any case.

As I mentioned above it's "ALWAYS BEST" to rotate HDG and VOR selector bugs per a multiplice of mouse clicks .... it's a slower but much more secure method of selection.

Other than that (and as mentioned aboove) the only permanant fix for this problem .... that I'm aware of at least .... is per a fully licensed version of FSUIPC.

Hope that helps ! ;-)

I loaded cessna first and no problems during the flight. Thank you all.
