Mitsubishi F-2

Just released, from the same FS team who designed the amazing P-3 Orion & F-18 a few years ago. This is an absolute masterpiece...

http://www.flightinfo.jp/FS_KBT/dai.htm

A Japanese license-built derivative of the F-16. It has a jaw-dropping VC, built-in head latency, selectable/jettisonable external stores, and custom gauges/avionics.

I'll try posting some screenshots a little later. My only complain thus far is the annoying sound of the pilot's breath (included in the sound pack). Other than that, this is fantastic.

Oh no, not the old 'breath' sounds!

The wonderful SOKO had a 'grunt' sound when you pulled G, that had to be got rid of..for the sake of good manners!!
I have seen a lot praise for this, so dispite it not being my 'cup of tea', I will give it a try! Thanks for the HU!

Thankfully, the 'breathing' sound can be deleted. Just look in the sound folder that comes with the aircraft, and delete the .wav file titled "oxygen".

And now I'm a happy camper! :)

I wouldn't mind the breathing sounds if they were mild or subdued...but the ones that come with the Mitsu seem decidedly...errr..."erotic" :$ ....for lack of a better term. Way too heavy and loud...

Mark, scrolling down that page, I see there is a Fairchild C119 Flying Boxcar, but clicking on the link only provides you with a patch. Do you happen to know where I can find the original model ? It's just the sort of aircraft I like to fly in FS.

Paul,

I also saw the C-119 and downloaded it. On closer inspection it seems that the full plane is included in the zip, but the site seems a little misleading on this one.

Will install it and see how I get on, look incredibly detailed, can't believe I have not seen this one before.

If you give a heads up and the original site doesn't say can you confirm whether it's FSX or FS9 in your original post?

For anyone who is wondering this is an FS9 release but works (albeit with the regular performance hit) in FSX. There is also a bit of transparency in the VC around some of the gauges.

Ah, good info James, I will go ahead and install it. Yes, I can't believe I haven't seen it before either.

Sure thing, Chris. Sorry about that... :)

Paul,
In addition to what James said, the full model is also available on Avsim & Flightsim as filename: c119bxcr.zip
The same designer also has a C-82 available...filename: C82PHX.zip

Both are nice models with good VCs...and a decent number of repaints are out there as well. Enjoy! :)

A HUD aligned to the horizon? fantastic!

I'm not sure if it beats the F-18 but that is no bad thing, this is also exceptional.
