What youve got is a DNS problem. Your unable to resolve turksim.org or perhaps you ISP has blocked it (the later is unlikely). The IP address for the server is 204.14.108.250. If you pring up a command prompt (Tyme "cnd" in the run bar and press enter. Then in the pox type "ping flynet.turksim.org" and let us know what response you get.

If that doesn't work you could try typing "ping 204.14.108.250" Again, let us know what responses you get.

Hi Scott,

Try this link http://flynet.turksim.org/ which is the main site without a cookie/log-in just in case your favourite is different. Your FlyNET account looks like it was deleted early May due to inactivity on FlYNET. You might try deleting any 'turksim' cookies or temporary internet file.

Regards

John

Hi.

Do you get a reply if you ping the IP address? If so, you have a dns issue. If not let me know. ;-)

You should get something like what I have below when you ping the IP address...

Code: Select all

C:\Windows\system32>ping 204.14.108.250

Pinging 204.14.108.250 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 204.14.108.250: bytes=32 time=169ms TTL=49
Reply from 204.14.108.250: bytes=32 time=169ms TTL=49
Reply from 204.14.108.250: bytes=32 time=167ms TTL=49
Reply from 204.14.108.250: bytes=32 time=169ms TTL=49

Ping statistics for 204.14.108.250:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 167ms, Maximum = 169ms, Average = 168ms

C:\Windows\system32>
This indicates that the network can conect from your system to the server rubbing flynet without problems on a purely tcp/ip level.

However, the internet uses DNS which resolves names to IP addresses. Simply put this means you can type in "www.cbfsim.org" rather than our IP address. The way this works is that you type in the name. You computer sends the name to the DNS servers it is configured with, and the DNS servers tell your computer the IP address and of it goes.

Could you go to a command prompt and type in "IPCONFIG /ALL" then press enter and post here the result?
If I can workout what your DNS servers are I can run a query against them from here to see if they are functioning properly, or if its a problem with your PC.

Cheers

Don't know if this is in any way connected to the FlyNet issue but just in case.

From Avsim:

"VATSIM Suffers Outage, Now Partially Restored

Posted: Monday, June 2, 2008 - 18:38
From the VATSIM News Wire: "VATSIM suffered a major server outage this weekend and is still in the process of recovering services. Currently, the FSD network (the one you connect to fly and control) is fully functional. The data feeds for ServInfo, DLMN, vRoute, and VATSpy are operating again. Weather server has been recovered and weather is updating. We are still waiting for the SweatBox server to come back online. Unfortunately, the VATSIM forums are still down. The data server remained online during the incident and no stats data was lost."

Per theplanet.com, the Hosting provider for VATSIM, this outage was caused by a large-explosion in their Houston, TX Network Operations Center. (NOC) Those wishing to learn the whole scoop can visit theplanet.com update page for up to date information."
