Hurricane scheme

I am trying to find pictures of the Hawker Hurricane PZ865 when owned and run by the Princess Margaret of England. The scheme was an overall Blue with gold stripes and lettering (G-AMAU). What I can't find are pictures of the wing lettering (if it evena had any).
Can anyone help.

I do hope this request is not too cheeky for this forum as it is not about a site aeroplane. Please forgive me but I am getting desparate and trying all avenues.

Thanks

S!

This beauty was discussed over at the Airfix Forum re: Hurricane G-AMAU

... and also on the Key Publishing Aviation Forum

Hope that helps a bit.

Pipelighter,

Sorry to come in late on this thread. I worked on this Hurricane whilst I was in the flight sheds at Langley. There were no letters on the top of the wings and the blue was darker than the pic shown by RAF-Pegasus - just a bit lighter than Oxford blue.

PZ865 is with the BoBMF and there are many pictures of her in their book, wearing many different liveries but none of that livery that you show. The text does tell that she rolled out at the factory wearing the "Last of the Many" inscription on both sides but there are no pics in the book showing it like your picture...On their paints it occupies two lines like this:-

The Last
of the Many!

and it is in yellow.

I believe that this Hurricane was owned by Hawkers after the war and appeared at various events alongside the Tomtit and a Hart in the Dark Blue and Gold colour scheme, whih I have seen as described as "Factory Racing Colours". Where I'm not so sure is how it came to be entered in the race by Princess Margaret and flown by her "Squeeze" Peter Townsend.

Well I've just looked at the links, and am just repeating stuff from them!

I have the AH Hawker, it was part of a BoB set - dunno if still available. I suspect that part of the problem is that different shades of blue were used at various repaints. I suspect something approaching the Tomtit shade would be right - but then I would say that!

I've been toying with using Ted Cook's Audax Trainer for the factory Hart - as it had no gun-ring but was used to transport photographers for air-to-air shots. I think it is now in one of the RAF Museums.

As an aside, I was in the Cosford Cold War Hangar a couple of weeks ago. Why on earth did they spend all that cash and then leave the structural steelwork unpainted? I don't suppose rust flakes falling on the exhibits will ultimately do them much good.
