Freezer v Comet (The Final Chapter)

Hi chaps,
As many of you were so patient about my earlier moan regarding the above thought I would let you know that the engineer wrote off the freezer as uneconomical to repair.
Wife and I went to Comet today and thought I would allow the wife in first!!

Fortunately she spoke to another salesperson and not the manager we previously saw. (phew)!!
All went extremely well, now have a medium sized chest freezer being delivered tomorrow for inside the home and as this replacement costs less than the original, we also have a full refund of the difference, and a full twelve month guarrantee as it is a different model.
Confidence restored in Comet, they could not have been more helpful.
Many thanks for your support and advice on this subject.......until next time!!!
Kind regards
Nigel.

You'd have had a further full 12month guarantee had the freezer been replaced with an identical model mate so in that aspect of the fiasco, you've not gained. However, nice to hear you've got a conclusion you're happy with and it just goes to show how important customer service is. This is probably why I'm only allowed behind the bar once a year (Christmas Eve) and I do what I can then to kill off our next years prospective custom

Thanks Dave, just relieved it is all over with a happy conclusion.
Had always thought that if an item was changed like for like i.e. same make and model, the guarrantee continued for the remaining period that is, say if six months warranty was left, then only another six months would apply. As for a different model then obviously the guarrantee would start afresh. Then again, the warranty agreements could have changed without me knowing!!

Nigel.

Yo there
No mate. Had the previous item been repaired, then the original guarantee period would have remained. With a new item, you should not only expect a full 12month manufacturers warranty but you are entitled to it as it is after all, a brand new item. You'd have to get in touch with the shop to get any extended warranty adjusted but that would be it ;-)
