Classic British Flight Sim

Just out shopping this morning with the good wife and bought myself a book whilst looking around The Works, then came across a number of CDs' from the golden age of radio. The one I picked out of the many there was (Dave will love this).....The Navy Lark!! :roll: It was not just the script that had me laughing but the way they put it across......Loved every minute of it.

I was in the Army in the sixties and we used to crowd round one of the few radios and listen avidly to Round the Horn, the Goon Show and Hancock. Forces Family Favourites were very popular when we were overseas with many a rude comment being made when one of 'our' lot got a mention.

Funnily enough, I have got a collection of Goon Show tapes which I put on from time to time and still crease my sides at the antics. Who needs 24 hour TV when the radio does it better?

The Navy Lark is right up near the top of the list, as for contemporary shows, the Now Show is a regular listen for me

PS There is a new Navy comedy on the radio set on a Nuclear sub... buggered if I can remember what it's called!

I regularly listen to the Navy Lark, the Goon Show, Round the Horn, the Clitheroe Kid, Dad's Army and many others. Point your browsers at the following link....

....then select the day of the week at the top and scroll down to see what is available for that day. Each program is available for one week before it is replaced with the next show and the online streams appear on the 'Listen Again' page one day after they have been broadcast 'live' on BBC7.

You will need an audio player capable of running 'Real' feeds to listen to the shows.

memories of growing up in the late 50s early 60s -- Allan - you must have been one of the gents that Two-way family favorites was made for - Added to those listed were the non comdey shows on Sundays - The Billy Cotton Band Show, Movie-Go-Round
there was also a sort of precursor to Top of The Pops - but I'm damned if I can remember the name of it - See to remember
Alan Freeman hosted it. my favorite comedies were The Goon Show, Hancocks Half Hour and f course the Navy Lark,
