Just reading about McCain's new running mate in the US elections, and she has a daughter named Bristol ! What on earth was the woman thinking of ? You're a great bunch over there, but do you have some strange tradition of naming children with the first word that comes into your heads ?
Chelsea Clinton, Bristol Palin...what next ? Bridgend Obama ??

Actually Like her mother shes not bad looking
Not sure where she got the names
Watched her mothers speech last night - prehaps we wont get 4 years of socialist rule after all
Sorry I'm tired of the media darling - (both American and foreign) People seem to overlook the fact
that the US is considering electing someone who (in his memoirs) admits to having both used and sold Cocaine
And who hangs out with Militants , Religous Bigots and Convicted Felons .
Hopefully the admin will now lock this thread and keep politics OUT of aviation
In the immortal words of Don Henley -- "You get the goverment you deserve--- See PM Brown!!!

Very few of the poor colonials are acquainted with Cockney rhyming so they would not have a clue as to what "Bristol" implies. Even if you said "Bristol Cities" they may have trouble unless you used it in context or they have watched enough Britcoms to have encountered the term and become curious as to it's meaning.
UK English is a far richer language as far as idioms and slang are concerned, which is why BBC America often reminds viewers that closed captioning is available so the viewers can understand the English being used!

Sorry Nigel - actually the girl does sort of remind me of that
Just sort of PO'd - Im tired of listening to the media telling everyone how wonderful the Democratic Presential candidate is.
I think I would rather have an old fighter pilot and a "hockey mom" that the alternative

Leif, what are you apologizing for? I must have missed something which is not unusual for me. ;-)
As far as the politics goes - whatever happens I just don't want Bush 3! I have until Novemeber to see if McCain would really be different.

Actually prehaps a Clinton/Palin independent ticket??

Leif -- I will admit her speech was IMHO far superior to Obamas acceptance which sounded as it was written by MLK
