It's a shame that they can at least be used for spares for what must now be more worthy causes... like Peter Vallance's running Shaks at Charlwood.

Interesting site, even if some of the activities it encourage are of dubious legality.
Two threads of note, in a time when military healthcare is so controversial - one showing the demolition of the ex RAF hospital at Halton, and the other mentioning that the for RAF Nocton Hall is being well utilised as an "airsoft" battleground. Good-o...

That does make you wince looking at great old airframes left like that.
Before I left the UK I was on Exercise on the Bramley training area near Basingstoke and came across this Whirlwind...

I've always been a keen reader (browser?) of 'wrecks and relics' yet it never ceases to amaze me at how many airframes are out there and how long some survive.
