Was through visiting my mother this morning, and as I unlocked the car to head home, I looked up and initially thought Tonks was returning after a Pubcrawl in Edinburgh, so I grabbed my camera - but no - it wasn't a VC10........ can anyone ID the aircraft tho? I'm stumped......

LOL I can name that in one note -- MD80 - I look after 43 in real life :)

I think that's the Nordic livery - so it means we will probably own that aircraft by the end of the year :)

Nice shot of the slats you don't often get to see that view :)

Thanks Leif :)

Lots of exhaust smoke (not that you see it from the gloom in the pic) as it appeared over the rooftops!

Hi Eric

Do you mean MD-81/82?

The MD-80 series are 81,82,83,87 & 88....the 87 is the short one

The differences are purely weight and powerplant between the 81,82 & 83. The MD-88 is any of those 3 with a semi-glass panel installed by Delta Airlines. The MD-87 is the short version that didn't sell well, but was a pretty outstanding performer. I believe its largest customer was Reno Air in the US which was bought by American Airlines only a few years after acquiring those aircraft.

Chirs

Several European Airlines bought MD-88's but I don't remember anything about Delta just that they were as you say partial glass.

We have five 87s and they are wonderful little aeroplanes but you cant get more than 130 stuffed in them

They are used for charter work with only one being used for schedule service in FLL

As Chris says the external differences are a bit hard to diierentiate on the 81-82-83-88

We have 82/83/88s and the only way I can tell is by the registrations Almost ALL of our fleet

has the "Screwdriver" tail and ALL but two have DGFC - we have one 87 and one 82 that are all "steam

gauge" - Besides the glass cockpits on the 88 they also have a higher MTOW/MLW/MZFW giving them

better range - If that is a Nordic (Finnair) aircraft then it started its life as an 81 and has been upgraded over the

years to 83

Hope thats confused everyone
