Manchester to Connell realtime weather coming up abeam Macrehanish
Its HenryTs AI Islander -- but it flies nicely with a 2D panel and decent sound file
G-SEIL I guess now lives at Connell (Oban) There will be some nice scenery for the refurbished
airport along shortly
Just something satisfying about the screenie -- cant say why

Nice one Leif ;-)
Machrihanish still makes me twitch..driving the lads in a four-tonner from Garelochhead, then back again in a Herc for a water jump into the Clyde...
Thank you RN
Derek ;-)

It makes YOU twitch!!! :o I sailed round there for 12months from Faslane and considering my DPC stated in 'Areas to Avoid' - SCOTLAND.. I was pretty pi$$ed off too living as I did then in Portsmouth

Although I had a 'few' decent moments.. it's 12months of my life I'd rather forget
You can see from the shot below why I wasn't particularly happy to be up there.. this shot not far from Oban either and taken by an on patrol MPA (The Mighty Hunter)!
No.. it wasn't a submarine either

Dramatic shot Dave :o
Was that underway???
I've seen wrecks that were in a better situation than that

It appears to be a tug about to become a permanent Submarine !!!! Sorry for misspelling Machrihanish it always struck me as the end of the earth-- The scenery up there is quite spectacular -- first in the sim and then going through myriads of photos Oban and North Connell for the scenery
its beautiful but very very wild -- DaveM and I were talking -- Because I have been working on the scenery I took his latest addition (Aerovan) to fly up there
and learned very quickly that you DONT fly from Oban to inverness in a fully loaded Miles Aerovan - It couldnt get out of its own way loaded up let alone climb
350 fpm max!!!! I hope that gets rectified as BrianH does the FDE.

Wheres our weehaggisbasher icon??????

Yes.. we're far too restricted with icons aren't we
It
is a tug Leif.. 900tonnes of the deep sea variety with an ice-breaking bow.. HMS Wakeful. It was built in this country for operation somewhere in the Baltic regions (Norway/Sweden) and eventually returned to the UK being snapped up by the RN. It was used mainly to go and make noise and annoy the Russian AGI's that sat off Malin Head waiting to hear (or try and hear) our 'Bombers' going on and off patrol. Our twin 9-cylinder Paxman diesels put paid to any intelligence gathering

Occassionally, the Irish Sea was calm but not very often as I recall!

I went to the Campbeltown Airport end once
There was a shed with Loganair painted on it and mpinted on the wall a list of expected flights.......for a whole week, now you don't get that level of service at Heathrow
The last one was yesterday and the next one was due tomorrow
Not the busiest airport I've visited

We went to Campbeltown once and I remember getting someones boot in my face. Lovely place. Next time I go, it'll be with a nice 'Dirty Bomb'
DP.. it looks like a bod on the bridge roof doesn't it but it's not. The upper deck was 'out of bounds' for obvious reasons

It's a binacle though WTF it's doing there I've no idea as it wasn't possible to steer from there. Hang on.. actually, it was. We had little 'wired' remote controls which
might just have reached up there  The emergency steering position was in the engine room down the @rse end. Damned hard work it was too.. for the sailors that had to do it from time to time

My 'Man overboard' position was actually on the bridge.. at the wheel!! I'd never steered a ship in my life and it came as a bit of a shock to the system the first time we exercised. A lot of fun though. I'd always wanted to give a ships wheel a big handful of spin and the Wakeful's spun very nicely. 30 degrees larboard wheel on Sir!.. Hands to Dinner!
