It was the early eighties if I remember rightly, seeing the first Monarch 757's at Manchester. I think their oldest is around the 25 yr mark. I guess thats a pretty good innings, with some now some set for life as a freighter.
Same script with BA who sold many of their retired aircraft to DHL.

HiEddie
The BA one's were some of the first
Monarch was not far behind ...G-DAJB and G-MONB were about the first all those years ago
Certainly earned their keep
Still a few days to see the marks frames

My introduction to the 757 was trying to land at Boeing Field on 13L right after one of the prototypes had just taken off from 13R. That was also my introduction to wake turbulence. I had kind of a wild ride there for a few seconds. Could it have really been that long ago?

That's what I was thinking. Feels like the 757 was introduced only yesterday, not 2-1/2 decades ago! :o

I flew on G-MONB in 1995. It had been retrofitted with RB21-535E4 engines by this point. I think, thoguh I may be wrong, that -DAJB was the first to be supplied to Monarch with those engines originally?
Has there been any more word on the possibility of 'MONB going to Duxford? This was a rumour I heard about a year or more ago.

My first every flight was in a MON 757 G-MONE in 1996 , It was in the blue colours :tab: I was hoping it would only fly above the trees ( Well I just watched Dambusters the Day before

)But once in cloud I was fine

shame MON are getting rid of them.Thought they would last a bit longer with MON. I still see MON fly there classic A300 still, well that makes me happy about the departing 757's

Been Yellow and black since they started in 1968
The 757's are very old now, older than the A.300-600
