Hello all,

I've been working on a model of the HP.81 Hermes for some time now, and I hope to release it sometime next weekend.

The Hermes was a fine airliner, comparable to the DC-6, but it was too late to be succesful. The Hermes was used by BOAC for a few years before it was replaced by Canadair Argonauts.

Very Nice!

Like the old 4 engine prop-liners, this looks like a nice addition to them!

The only one I ever saw was the Callie cabin trainer that sat across from the Beehive at Gatwick

I think that may be the one thats at Duxford

When I was a little lad (early 70s) I used to remember seeing the fuselage from the main Crawley to Redhill road, adjacent to the main terminal building. It was always a case of 'finding the plane' on the way home after a Sunday afternoon out. Akin today to spotting the orange camel on the M5 at Bridgwater. Very sad I know.

I was born in Redhill and then lived in Reigate and most Sunday mornings were spent down the road running adjacent to the main runway at Gatwick, where you could peer through the wire fence at the comings and goings. Only thing I can see to remember was BCal 1-11s (think that was due to the Airfix kit and Dad going on a daytrip to Jersey in one circa 72-73).
