Just a heads up for anyone who might be able to catch her. XH558 should be departing Farnborough today at 12:30 and arriving at Bruntingthorpe at 13:30. I'm not sure of the exact route, but I'd keep your eyes peeled if you live between Farnborough and Leicester... or if you're close enough, head down to one of the two airfields!

Yep and its been said a many times on BBC Radio Lincolnshire that its likely to be its last...

I suppose that depends on how substaintial this new sponsorship from Aero Inventory is.

Hopefully this new sponsorship will at least see her through the winter, then who knows what next season might bring.

I'm sorry James, I can't in good conscience sign that. This is a private project and has nothing to do with the government, and more importantly as much as I'd love to see the Vulcan continue to fly there are far more important things for public money to be spent on than this.

I think I'm in full agreement with that Chris. A huge amount of lottery dosh has already gone into the project and it's spent more time tech than it has displaying.

Did you read the petition? There is nothing in there about only public funds. It says they want the PM's office to assist in the location of private or public funds applicable to the project. None of this is asking for anything that wouldn't be offered a static museum. Why should the IWM be able to apply for and get government grants and loans for its operations but not XH558? This is the kind of double standard that the CAF and other flying museums in the US have been fighting for years in the US. Static museums get all sorts of public grants and loans for expansion and operation, but when we (a flying museum) apply for those same grants and loans, we're told that we can't have them, usually with a rediculous comment like "you guys ought to have enough money," an inference that all involved must be independently wealthy and thus able to support the aircraft ourselves, or that we can just sell rides in the plane (something most can't due to FAA rules).

As for the aircraft's status - remember that it's an extremely complex aircraft that in service had a lot of problems throughout its life as well. It's nice when you have practically fixed operating costs to make it look like the plane is easier to maintain than it really is.
