WOW! Dan Dare! I haven't seen him (or his cronies) since I was a kid. I had several hard backed Dan Dare annuals in my bookcase growing up.
As to the woman I have no clue who she is but I wouldn't like to cross her that's for sure.

From the look of that thing she's carrying, isn't it something to do with the latest throne speech in Parliment ? so she
would have some title or other, I think it's the mace if that's the word of the house of lords or commons that always
sits on the big table in front of the speaker.
Then it has the pleasure of resting in it's gates while all those useless idiots that make all the moola shout and scream
at each other and get nothing done.
I enjoyed that lol

Too right, Leif
It is Black Rod's job to carry the Mace, but it seems it is often delegated to the Serjeant-At-Arms. As far as I can see, the only current female Usher of the B.R. is in the Oz Senate, but the mace bearer in the pic looks nothing like her, and it doesn't look like our Mace, either.
Reminds of the time my Dad said "give James the camera - he takes a good photo" and the other four of us instantly replied "Ha! It depends which side of the camera he is on"
Sad but true.....

The current Serjeant at Arms in the UK Parliament is Jill Pay. She is usually responsible for security matters concerning the House of Commons as her equivalent for the House of Lords is Black Rod. The Serjeant of the Commons can also escort MPs out of the chamber by order of the Speaker.
In 2008, following the controversial arrest and search of the MP Damian Green's House of Commons office by the Metropolitan Police, who were given consent to do so by the Serjeant-at-Arms without holding a search warrant, the Speaker of the House later stated that the protocol would in future require a search warrant and his personal approval before such a search could happen.
