Gatwick Fire Service

Post by Nigel H-J »

Seeing UK Mil has released a new fire tender I had previously upgraded the BAA Fire Service Engines and came into good use today.

Precautionary shut-down of No1 engine after a fire warning light illuminated, not the best of weather to land 08R Gatwick.

A welcome sight to see knowing if any fire exists they will deal with it.

Inspection made and the all clear about to be given

One tender continues to follow the aircraft as a precaution whilst the other two head back

Very nice Nigel, but I have just had to turn my central heating up a notch or two after viewing. Gave me the shivers.

Apparently not! This interesting article from The Times last week lays the blame for our collective memory of white christmases squarely on Dickens's shoulders. His childhood co-incided with a freak 10 year spell of very cold weather in the early 1800s. 6 of his first 9 christmases were white but since then they've been as uncommon as they are now! So apparently he used his childhood memories to create this fantasy of white christmas memories that we all share! There've only been 7 in the last 108 years! And less than 20 in the 1800s.

I knew there was a good reason why I've never been interested in classic literature

Worked with the Heralds but the Daks were before my time, but as we were bemoaning Nigel H-J's choice of 1-11.....
