AVG vs COMODO

Hi all,

something I would like to put to the folk who have a little more knowledge and experience on these two free anti-virus packages currently available.

I have been using AVG for the last few years and I must be honest, the package has been more than adequate for my needs and has always performed well. And I am a firm believer in - if it aint broke, don't fix it, but I keep hearing more and more about the Comodo offerings which interests me as its something new and I would imagine is a competitor for the likes of AVG.

Can anyone offer advice as to which is the better?

Hi Eddie

I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. Had AVG until they updated it and had a few problems so went for advice....here!!

I had heard that Comodo is very good but in the end decided to go for Kaspersky (payware) after some-one here kindly pointed me to it.

When I purchased it there was a coupon box somewhere below typed WHSmith, then got Kaspersky Anti-Virus for just £14!!

I have had no problems at all and can recommend it.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Nigel.

Well I have AVG and as a rule been chuffed with it. I also have "shock horror" a payware product called Spysweeper by Webroot. Now the subscription was up and I think the renewal was £15 So I hung off for a bit and with a few days to go they offerd me it for £10 great I thought so I renewed it as its very good and always gets good reviews, then I noiticed I could upgrade to the full anti-virus, firewall and anti-spy for another £5! So I did and now I have a smaller footprint as only one prog running it reduced my processes to 30 from 36!
I did read up on it and it got good reviews scoring very highly.
The only snag so far is I cannot get the firewall to show, I run Windows own. Its probably a failure on my part so I have e-mailed the support to see what I am doing wrong.
However the layout of spysweeper is easy to work with and I am hopeful its going to be as good as just the spysweeper prog which is excellent :)

I changed to Comodo when AVG started to get bloated about a year ago. First thing I noticed was how much faster opening things became. Happy with it.

Agree with Kapersky all the way, for years I went with Norton, its such a resource hog I finally got rid of it.
Had Kapersky through 2008 and just renewed for this year.............excellent product with no complaints
highly recommended and the best $49 you can spend.
