HS 748 - curious.....

Hi Guys.
Apart from neglecting the correct procedures, or slamming onto the deck, I never get problems with the '748s engines, except a flight I made from Vancouver to Juneau earlier, I had a failure of the port engine, as if I'd left the generator off.. this was over half way into the flight, and I left it, and landed safely, but except some bouts of insane turbulence, I can't see any other reason why the engine failed......... anyone any clues?

Cheers guys. My first thought was the generators - all switches were normal, deicing set to 'medium', fuel heaters were off, etc. Nothing actually looked out of place..... Failures are all turned off under realism.

Fuel heaters should almost certainly have been on. What Alt where you at? Generators would not cause an engine failure, but and engine failure will cause that gen to go offline, if that makes sense?

FL215....
I've not actually read the manual for a bit, but I always turn the heaters OFF at 5000ft (turn them on as part of pretakeoff and just above 5000ft on the descent...have I transposed the instructions...?)

If the OAT drops below about -20 or there abouts, cant remember the exact figure the fuel heaters should be on.

As it gets colder as you go up, you need the heaters on... and watch the fuel trim too ;-)

If the OAT is expected to drop below 5deg (and isn't that always in the UK!) I turn fuel heaters on. I have the manual here but haven't read it for as long as I can remember but.. I've never had an engine freeze unless it's been of my own making ;-)
