Classic British Flight Sim

Hello everyone,

when taking Rick Piper's wonderful 748 out of the hangar I always experience some trouble setting the right thrust for taxying. Either it's too much and the model rolls off way too fast like a sportscar ;-) or it stops cause there's not enough power. There seems to be no in-between. Am I doing something wrong or is just reality that there had to be a constant change of thrust to manage a reasonable taxi speed?

Any inputs are gladly appreciated!

Hello Mate

No.. you're not doing anything wrong. The 748 is notoriously difficult to taxi but it can be mastered with practice. Get the old girl moving (not too fast.. not too slow) and keep dabbing the brakes to control speed. Works for me ;-)

Forget the throttle on Stick/Yoke for taxying. You need about 11000 RPM to move her - Personally I use F3 (18 taps to get her moving) then tap F2 three times to ease the speed pack (She will slow at 10500RPM) then use f2/3 to keep the speed right...... :flying:

And whatever you do, don't go up and tap the girlfriend 18 times...... :o

Well, I'm rather pleased some-one asked that question....now I know it ain't just me!!

No It's not just you Nigel,
But I have to point out that the real A/C was no where near as hard to control as the model we use, the Argosy was an absolute pig on the ground and many people flatly refused to taxi it, but the majority of the twins were pretty straight forward.
