Just got back into making scale models

I've been wanting to get back into making models for a while now, and finally got round to getting all the tools and bits together recently. Over the last week or so I've had a bash at doing a 1:48 Spitfire and here's the result...

Threads with more pics (including during the build) are here:

Now I've got a 1:48 TSR2, a couple of Canberras, a Bucc, a Spit IX and 22, a couple of BF109s, an F-15E and a Su-27... and a 1:32 Hunter all waiting to be done :)

Nicely done mate ;-)

I used to be a professional modelmaker so I'm qualified to say that

One thing bugs me though..how do you keep your workspace so neat and tidy? :dunno:

ATB,

Derek :)

Cheers guys :)

I've got a mild case of OCD and I like to keep everything organised and tidy :) If something is a mess then I have to tidy it up, I really can't abide living or working in a messy environment.

The other problem is I need dedicated work area and not the kitchen table. I got lots of grief when making that Spit, especially when I had to move it all every night for dinner...

Right now I've got a stack of 13 kits waiting to be done... some highlights are going to be a BF109E-4 that I will finish as Adolf Galland's BoB mount, a Bf109G-6 that I will do as Erich Hartmann's machine and a Spitfire IXC that I will do as Johnny Johnson's machine. I'm also trying to get hold of the Hasegawa 1:48 Hurricane MkI to do as Robert Stanford-Tuck's machine (or possibly the Hurri that James Nicholson won his VC in). I'm also on the lookout for suitable kits to make a Spanish Civil War Bf109 and I-16

I've been bitten by the bug again! :)

I'm afraid my modelling desk is of the untidy variety  No matter how hard i try clutter and bits of models appear all over the place. Nice work on the spit btw. I have qute a collection of kits but i model in 1/72 scale which helps space wise. With my new camera i might even try photographing some of them and posting some pics up here. I cannot help myself buying more kits and have a stockpile of about 25 kits, don't know when they will all get built.

If you haven't already, check out www.britmodeller.com it's a lot like this site, but for modellers... great site with lots of knowledgable people and some pics of really fantastic work people do with their kits.

Saw it over on BM. Very impressive for a "comeback" build. :)

A very nice model, Pielstick.

I then spent a very pleasant hour, surfing the Britmodeller website, which I hadn't come accross before.

Thanks

Kevin
