9 Dragons - HELP!

Having ventured back to FS9, I've downloaded and installed 9 Dragons, which looks stunning... however.

In the documentation it says it deactivates The new airport which is VHHX. OK, no problem there. But does it swap ICAO's?

Kai Tak is/was VHHH in the real world. Now in FS9, when I go to VHHH now I end up at the New airport, Chek Lap Kok, which should be VHHX. Also Chep Lap Kok is very much active (with lots of AI) albeit with the wrong ICAO code, VHHH and Kai Tak is very much deserted (of AI) on the wrong ICAO code VHHX.

Very confused!

Ben...using TTools you have to get rid of every instance of VHHH ......maybe you have already done this...?

But it does explain how to de-activate the AI plans and re-activate them with VHHX...there is a special section in the manual that walks you through this....

Hi Chaps...

I Guess that means the Wiki article is wrong! :o

No problem changing the AI flightplans, its really easy with AI flight planner... just find and replace :dancer:

Wouldnt be the first time, or the second. Had one instance at work where I found an algorithm on Wikipedia that I needed for some C code I was writing. Code didnt work. I assumed the error was mine and after much pulling out of hair I realised that my code did do what was being asked of it, except that the original algorithm hada couple of small but significant lines missing. On a second occasion at work when a colleague quoted some data that he marked "Got this from Wikipedia" I had my reservations. Wikipedia is fascinating and I spend a lot of time on it, but sometimes a pinch of salt is needed with it!

Sorry for being OFFTOPIC , but after Jorge Cauz, president of Encyclopaedia Britannica wrote "We believe that the creation and documentation of knowledge is a collaborative process but not a democratic one.", I am starting to see why thats not such a bad idea sometimes!

Indeed...The whole principal of Wikipedia is wrong so it is the worst source of sound information :)

Actually Wikipedia is one of the best places to start any kind of research and I used it extensively when studying for my masters. As long as one keeps an open mind and remembers that these articles can be uploaded by anyone with no real editing or control then it's plain sailing, but most importantly Wiki articles are usually full of excellent links and references to other sources that can be followed up and provide excellent background reading that provide useful starting blocks for any investigation.

Incidentally if you find something that is wrong on Wiki then edit it, and post a source confirming your change if possible. If everyone does this then a lot of the incorrect information can be weeded out.

It behoves us all to remember the lessons of the past. Once upon a time it was known that if it was in the Newspaper, it was the Truth. Verily it came to pass that we all got television, and it was known that if it was on TV then it was the Truth. In this latest age of technology how can it be that thou canst doubt that anything on the World Wide Web is not the Truth?

OK, it'll be more joy than penance for the preceding BS but I'm going to install 9dragons. Apart from a bodgy connection with the thread's topic I just loved HK when I was there on holiday and have so enjoyed all the screenies posted around these forums that I'm going to have to give in. Thanks to all that have posted those - happy users are the best advertising any product ever needs.

The real answer to the question is that Hong Kong airport is VHHH...Remember Kai Tak was closed years ago and when flight simmers wanted to open it up again they could not call it VHHH because that was the name of Chek lap Kok. So they simply invented VHHX. I have them both open but my VHHX is not the 9 Dragons version.

In order to populate Kai Tak with Traffic I simply diverted one third of all instances in FlightPlans of VHHH by "FIND VHHH AND REPLACE WITH VHHX". The FlightPlan text files that I treated in this way were all the "World of AI" ones that contained instances of VHHH. This has resulted in a really excellent traffic set at both airports and it all work extremely well :flying:

BTW a simple way of deciding which to divert can be found by going through with just "FIND VHHH" and counting the hits...Divide the number by 3 to find X and then do it again with the replace but only do it X times
