My Top Ten Aircraft

With summer around the corner I won't have as much time for flight simming - depending on the weather. I've decided to prioritise by selecting my ten favourite aircraft and putting them through a comparison programme to decide which ones give me the most fun. I awarded equal points for panel realism, exterior, FDE and feeling of satisfaction. So now if I'm short of time I can select an aircraft which suits my level of patience. Well, that's the plan anyway! They're all FS9 and they're all jetliners
I'm not suggesting that any are technically better than others - this is my personal choice. Here they are in reverse order
No 10. HJG Boeing 707 with HJG panel
No 9. HJG DC-8 with HJG panel
No 8. Vistaliners L1011 with Ken Mitchell panel
No 7. Boeing 747-200 Ready for Pushback
No 6. Vickers VC10 David Maltby
No 5. Vistaliners Boeing 727 with Richard Probst panel
No 4. Vistaliners Boeing 737-200 with Tinmouse panel
No 3. DH Comet 4 David Maltby
No 2. HS Trident David Maltby
And the winner is : BAC 1-11 David Maltby

Fine choices there Ian. Probably not too dissimilar to my preferences. Although I would have squeezed the budgie in there somewhere.
Great shots too.

The 'hhhhhm' from Dan was due to the VC-10 not being at the top I expect

Great selection. Your top one is mine as well.
I almost only fly the OneEleven and sometimes board Rick Piper's 748. :prayer:
About that american stuff - is there any plane that offers a good flyable VC as well?
Cheers,
Nick

Oh dear! Maybe I should have entitled the thread: The Aircraft Models That I Most Enjoy Flying in FS9!
Dan - of course the VC10 will always be my favourite
real aircraft :kissu: But what this selection is about is the degree of satisfaction I get from completing a virtual flight. How involved I feel in the fantasy of flying a historic jetliner

The VC10 model is a bit too easy to fly and isn't as immersive as some of the others. I've even heard of people who fly it exclusively by keyboard ;-) But it's still the most beautiful aircraft ever!

Well, without them it would just be My Top Four Aircraft - which doesn't quite have the same ring to it

You've got to have a supporting field, haven't you? Otherwise MotoGP would just be Casey Stoner and Valentino Rossi and everybody else would be sent home  At least there weren't any French aircraft in it!

The only one with a VC is the RFP 747-200 but it's not very good and hardly flyable, although its 2D one is excellent. I use 2D panels for take-off and landing and only go VC during cruise so apart from adding atmosphere it's not an essential part of my simming so doesn't really influence my choice. Having said that, the Richard Probst 2D Boeing panels (particularly the Tinmouse development for the 732) are superb.

Fear not mate.. I have some American iron in my hangar, some of which is listed above ;-) I have actually bought a couple too!! :o I'm certain both (CLS 742 and CLS DC10-30) have workable VC's but like you, I don't go there much.. only to goof on the longer flights. I don't think I've ever actually used em so can't comment as to how good or bad they are
