Brilliant photographs, brings back the days when I used to stand on the a bridge train spotting and get covered in smoke as the train went under....not a pleasant experience really.

What a beautiful locomotive.

I imagine it would be a lot of fun to take one of those excursions. Are these trips organised by a historical society or by a commercial company? Just wondering.

We have an incredible Steam Museum up at Ely Nevada -- about 60 miles of rail that they run regular excursions on
Keep promising to take Tag up but its almost a 250 mile drive

The ones we typically have here are excursions run by museums/organisations like the one Leif spoke of. As far as regular scheduled rail service (to take you from point A to point B) you're kinda stuck with Amtrak, our government financed railroad. :-( Here's our excursion train here in Texas.

I see what you mean Brian
Perhaps one day........you have the running locos, all it needs is the will or is there a HS/insurance issue with the olde equipment on modern services
