Hi Paul..

The Ruskies have been throwing medals out for a while now. My dad was invited to the Russian Embassy in London some years ago (4 rings a bell) to receive a medal struck for Merchant Seamen thanking them for their support in saving the glorious motherland  Thank god I'm not still in the RN

Over on the 'Battle of Britain II' section of the A2A forums we have the immense pleasure of having Wing Commander Tim Elkington as a fairly regular poster. He took part in the BoB, was shot down and then later in the war was a member of one of the squadrons sent out to Russia with the Hurricanes. He stayed in the RAF after the war and was part of the transition into jets.

Tim is in his 80's now but is a wealth of information and his contributions to the forum are always much valued and appreciated by the forum members.

The Brit was actually a New Zealander albeit in RAF service.
