What is it about this aircraft that interests me so ? Same with the Halton and Lancastrian..I just love them ! :dancer:

At first glance, I don't think any of these are duplicated in Warpaint #46. I've resized them here, but you can download the full-sized set from my Filefront account. The file name is C8Scans.zip. Here's the link..

Dave B, I really see that silvery grey paint in some of these , rather than what I mistakenly assumed was bare metal. :$

Doves and Herons were often painted in the siver fox finish seen here

Might have been a standard use paint in the early days.

Nice shots there Paul....

To fill in the gaps on your captions, I think G-AIHY might be 'Lancashire Aircraft Corporation' and G-AKBA is possibly 'Alpha Aiways'

Bridon Bear ;-)

Bang on there

I have all of those shots in some form or other but it's nice to see them at a standard size ;-)

TBH mate.. Warpaint#46 isn't the best reference, good as it undoubtedly is.

DO I see a Stirling lurking behind JPJ??

and the LAMS aircraft HZN looks like she is having her elevator worked on

Garry, yep, I think you're right on that paint.

Bridon, I agree with Lancashire Aircraft Corporation; its a very similar scheme to G-AKXT. I've posted a message back to Mitchell Holman at the aviation newsgroup where I found the pictures. I sometimes think Mitch is the sole repository of every aviation photograph ever taken !

One of the good things is it comes with a pull out double-sided A2 sheet of 1/72 scale 3-view drawings and cross sections by Stephen Kent. I also have the ones by A. Granger. If real life wouldn't keep getting in the way, I'd make the effort to learn 3DSMax v5.5 and have a crack at it. I've already got the Hercules engines, propellors and H2S radome...all kindly donated by young Mr.Walters from the Plane Design Lanc Mk.II. I don't think the poor lad's going to get much of a return on that investment any time soon!

Apart from the Warpaint book, I have " From Hell, Hull and Halifax" by Chris Blanchett, and Osprey's Combat Aircraft #14 : Halifax Squadrons of WW2. Got Flying Zone's interactive DVD for the Halifax B.Mk.III too but thats about all I can find amongst the mainstream book sellers, and even Motor Books near Trafalgar Square doesn't have a fat lot more.

What other references are there that you can recommend ? And am I right in thinking Duxford has all the Halifax design drawings now ? I'm sure someone told me that.
