Retro AI

After flight simming for a number of years I have finally mustered the patience to learn how to use Traffic Tools. Having played around with it to get the feel of how everything works I am now in a position to take it more seriously and I am faced with a few problems, or maybe not perhaps.

Because I am wanting to operate in the late 60's and early 70's how do I use the Heathrow 1961 version or does it not matter? Apart from the fact that certain aircraft should not be there of course, like the beloved VC10, what about flight plans and gates? Do I need to make any alterations or will aircraft simply find their way to an appropriate parking slot/gate?

:doho:

Not directly related to the retro airports question, but I would really recomment AI Flight Planner rather that traffic tools. TT was excellent 7 years ago when it first came out and really spurred on development of a flight planning tool when Lee announced it wouldn't be developed further. AIFP can use files in the same format as TT or the new FSX format and works with both sims and is very much easier to use. Really worth a look. And its free.

Hi,

As I remember the gates at the Heathrow 1961 are not assigned (other than some BEA and BOAC gates), so it should work fine for you. If you need some larger gates for heavies, just use AFCAD to increase a few to Gate Heavy.

I'll have a go at that Tom. By the way I have been downloading your AI aircraft and next I will get the US and European airports etc. All very good indeed. This leads me to ask actually, do you think there may be a late 60's Heathrow on the cards?
