In need of a favour..

Hi Chaps..
I need a bod who has fast BB speed AND a YouTube account to upload a short (102mb) clip for me. I've tried a load of times and while the clip is great here, it displays at YouTube with intermittent green pixellation. I only have 2mb BB here and each attempt takes between 1hr15m and 1hr45m and tbh.. I've lost the will to try again. The shot has been uploaded here in mpg format and viewed by one of the admins (no.. make that two).. one see's the clip (the one NOT uploaded to YouTube) fine and the other see's the uploaded version with the green pixellation. No idea WTF is going on as I don't see this cr@p here either.. only after it's gone up to YouTube.
Reason for the upload is that the clip is of APEP's final taxi (well.. just 2mins of it) and the idea is that once it's there successfully, we can put a link on APEP's website for visitors to get a brief glimpse of her in motion.
If anyone is equipped with the necessary YouTube account and fast BB upload speed.. let me know and I'll send a link to the mpg file ;-)

Hi Dave. There's already a video of it on YouTube. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick again?

Yes mate.. you have the wrong end of the stick. The 'Team' are already aware of Andy's footage.. the idea of the one they gave me to doctor was to make it a 'teaser'.. hence it's only 2mins long. We hope to produce 'in house' a DVD with the rest of the footage I cut plus some of engine runs both inside and out. My only worry is that it's me they ask to do the DVD

Hello Mate..
Rgr and tks for the offer. DelP is banging it up through the ether as we speak so we'll see how that goes. Never heard about moving the slider back to get rid of any pixellation before. Everyone who's seen the clip online (on YouTube) has seen the pixellation.. me, Garry and a handful of the Vanguard team so it's nowt specific to me. TBH.. it's not something i've seen on other clips before
Will let ya'll know how Derek gets on ;-)

Remember it doesn't matter what your download speed is. This will be an upload and will be a fraction of that headline value - that is why it is called ADSL (where the A stands for asymmetric). Hence Speedtest.net tells me I have 6Mb download but only 0.3 upload :-(

Tony..
Derek got the file up there in short order but the end result is the same. He sees the un-YouTubed file fine but once on YouTube the dreaded green bits appear. Now to Plan B.. only I don't have a Plan B. :-(
Tks for the offer mate. I may still call upon your services at some point in the future ;-)

What have you used to produce the file for upload to YouTube, ie what is the video codec?
YouTube seems to convert everything to .FLV files, so one option might be to produce the video in that format and upload. Then any conversion problems (your video to YouTube) should go away.
Just my 2p worth.

Hi Ian..
I went by the book basically. Encoding done in MPEG2 via Pinnacle Studio 10.7 and up it jolly well went. Their guidelines say MPEG1,2,4 or H264 (whatever that is) and to keep the clip original size where possible. However.. there is an 'ideal' (as suggested by DelP) which I've since tried. I can't view MPEG4 on this pc as I don't have the necessary viewing codecs but I CAN encode in MPEG4 so.. I tried again just before midday using MP4 at 640x480 and bless my cotton socks.. the darned thing works a treat

Another bonus over MPEG2 is the compression.. the file is now 31.7mb as opposed to 102.3mb. All of a sudden, it's christmas!

My 2mb BB can cope with files of that size so all's well and has ended well ;-)
The upload is here if you're interested..

It was a simple cut and shut on my behalf with a fade transition thrown in for good measure ;-)
Tks for all your input.. much appreciated
