Tony -- (and any other painters out there)

Martin has been absolutely invaluable to the other Auster project -- his camera NEVER stops - not just of the inhabitants of Eggesford but other Auster's that he meets along the way -- without him it would have been far more difficult to get the details of the beasties........little nice things like the J5V having had
its zippers replaced with more modern clip in inspection panels.....BTW Tony IRC looks great - just dont forget to put the "For Sale" sign in the windshield

Awww Shucks, I dont know what to say ' Umm, I'd like to thank my parents, my agent.....'. No seriously, its been a joy to be involved with a project to publicise what at times is a somewhat forgotten aircraft company. Everyone seems to remember Miles, Percival or de Havilland, but the poor old Auster is way down in the pecking order. Now, with more than ever examples flying and an enthuiastic Auster Club, interest in the type is growing and thanks to people such as the two Dave's more interest is now being shown and people are now being educated into what a lovely aeroplane the Auster can be. I just hope that this grows and moves the marque up the 'manufacturers chart'!

With all the projects I've been involved in, (J/1, Autocar, AOP.6, Aiglet Trainer and....whoops almost gave it away there!), I take about 200 photos of each aeroplane, source all of the manuals which are then copied - a good macro on the cam is a godsend - and then get notes, comments and suggestions from the owners if and when possible as to both the appearance and the aircraft's flying characteristics. A suitable answer to a query, if I dont know myself is only an email away. Roger Benson who owns Autocar G-AOIY was brilliant as he supplied pilots notes and photos direct to Mr Molyneaux. We couldnt have asked for better assistance.

I'll second that folks
Martin's help is invaluable - no request for info or pix being too bizare for him to come up with the goods a.s.a.p
His involvement with the Auster gang at Eggesford means he can persuade the right person to supply the knowledge - like Roger Benson and his G-AOIY.
So, if you ever feeel that you'd like a drink in a pub (as if) - have it virtually on me :drinkers:

Thanks for the kind words.....a drink? No, you must be thinking of someone else. Just because I went to the Western Isles two weeks ago in G-AMMS and whilst there, had to of course try as many local malts as possible (all for market research of course), I dont think I have a drink problem. Do I?!

Took copies yesterday of more Auster manuals and today added another type to my logbook in the form of a Beagle Husky. Well, it looked like a Terrier from within, but with little fuel on board, was quite the difference from what I'm normally used to. Climb performance shall we say was very remarkable indeed - can see why they were used as glider tugs in the 60s and 70s. Did try to get to Lundy for a non liquid lunch in the Auster 3 today, but from Hartland Point, the island was not visible through the clag and so turned for home.
