Hi Guys, whilst rummaging through old photos the other day, i came across these two pics I took back in the late 80s of a CL-44-O at RWY-06 Southend.
Sorry they're not clear but i had to take a digital picture of a photograph, :doho: but still worth a look.

Indeed Leif

On all CL-44 including the Yukon......which just supports the theory they all had the APU in the fin. Infact the best pics I have of that is on Yukons.

On the subject of the CL-44-O it was not brolken up "any day" as reported last September but has now become the property of Bournemouth Airport in lieu of parking fees.

The last I heard as of June, is, it was likelt to be saved if at all possible by a museum.

This is of course a very big aeroplane that can't fly so it still remains to be seen the outcome of enthusism versus reality.

But not as ugly as the Super Guppy which used one of the ugliest aeroplane ever built as a base.

I don't think there is any interest in it from the Bournemouth Museum..The Airport is at least keeping it in tact. :)

.. or vomit in public Joe but this does happen from time to time

Garry..
I think it's less that Bournemouth are keeping it intact and more they've not sent the demolition boys in.. YET! Money has few friends and if you're owed some, that elite circle get's smaller. I don't like to see any rare airframe go under the hammer but I thank all that is good that this won't be coming to Brooklands ;-)

Great retro pictures of the 'flying freak'. I have a soft spot for it though. Probably through pity. :)
