Took an old FS2004 bird up for a quick flight yesterday. The Spartan 7W Executive...still looking good.

The aircraft and repaint can be downloaded from flightsim.com. Spartan 7W Executive (spartan.zip) by Milton Shupe and friends, repaint (snc17665.zip) by John Terrell.

That aircraft sim is almost 4 years old, but if I downloaded it today, I'd still say it was top-notch. Milton, Scott and Urs, you're some of the best out there, thank-you.

...and we have two in the UK thanks to their owner, whose name I forget
NC17615 and NC17633. Imagine owning two of such a rare bird.
My favourite texture set by John Terrell is NC20200. The model is brilliant, in fact I take it for a flight any time I think of indulging in some payware - that I will probably hardly ever use - to convince myself to hide the plastic.

I only found out he'd bought a second one a week or so ago

He's based at Little Gransden and I had a quick chat with him whilst he was polishing the first one last year, he said he was looking for another.

They are just superb IMHO
Cheers

If you didn't know, for the FSX-ers among us, the Milton's Spartan and Howard 500 have been recompiled from original source files as FSX native. They're only available from
FSNorthwest.net Download requires free registration.

I must admit that this one was not among my preferred Shupe creations, years ago. Now, after this thread , I put it again in my FS9 and I appreciate the high standard quality of this very modern monoplane. She flies beautifully.
The exterior is fine , the VC is superb and the thing cruise at 180 mph without any flaw. She was a cadillac of the sky in the late 30 and the engine was the ubiquitous P&W Wasp , the same of the Texan/ Harvards.
The VC external visibility (like, I suppose, in the real one) is not the best . During turns , you see out of the windows like in a Vulcan! The stalls (with and without power) are definitely not straight-out and the wing falls heavily . Rudder is a must to recover. The luxurious internal accomodation is very nice , with booze and magazines.
The whole flight model is a little bit sluggish and stable. I like it and , since I do not utilise FSX, I have nostalgy of the Shupe planes. As a matter of fact it seems he makes only FSX planes, now...I see two Spartans flying now in the UK and I look forward to see and hear them next spring at Shuttleworth.
